Context
Every year, Speedo holds quarterly meetings with store managers nationwide to address customer pain points and find solutions.
During one such meeting, a recurring issue was highlighted: customers struggled to carry bodyboards, also known as "funboards," after purchasing them due to the lack of suitable carrying bags. With summer approaching, the demand for bodyboards was increasing, making this issue even more pressing.
This project focused on designing a practical, eco-friendly carrying solution for Speedo's bodyboards. By reusing materials and creating an adjustable, lightweight strap, the goal was to enhance customer convenience and build loyalty.
I wanted to make sure the bag is adjustable so it can be reused for other items besides the bodyboard. Additionally, hooks were placed on the nylon to attach a shoulder strap, making it easier to carry the board.

The Problem
Customers found it challenging to transport their bodyboards, leading to dissatisfaction and inconvenience. The lack of a suitable carrying option negatively impacted the overall customer experience.
The Solution
To address this issue, I brainstormed and designed an adjustable strap specifically for bodyboards, with the following key features:
Recyclable Materials: Utilized scraps from the sewing department, focusing on sustainability.
Lightweight and Packable: Ensured the strap was easy to carry and store.
Adjustable and Versatile: Designed adjustable straps with a locking mechanism to secure the board and allow for reuse with other items.
I created a prototype using nylon material, incorporating the Speedo logo with the help of the sewing department.

The Results
The prototype was presented at the annual Speedo convention, receiving positive feedback, especially from Team Australia, who saw the potential for their surfing customers. Although the product wasn't mass-produced in Manila, Team Australia adopted the design into their collection. This success validated the importance of listening to customer feedback and demonstrated the impact of innovative solutions on customer satisfaction.
